Agenda

  • Note taker/facilitator rotation - anyone else finding this difficult to keep up with?  How about monthly rotations?
  • Oracle (George Hackman - Senior Director of UX) to attend this meeting on 10/15?
    • Design Patterns at Oracle - how they use them to promote usability and consistency
    • Accessibility and evolving standards
    • Usability methods they use at Oracle
  • uCamp in December - should we create a planning committee & organize another meeting or use this one as we have in the past?
  • Roadmap - what's happening with it?  what do we want to happen to it?  should we include those issues in the Fluid UX Walkthrough reports?

Note taker/facilitator rotation: Allison, Colin, Daphne, Eli, Jackie, Judy, Julie, Kathy, Marc, Shaw-Han, Tim, Will

Notes

  • Tim will be the standing facilitator for the group every week (Thanks Tim!)
  • Need to come up with a new scheme for rotating the meeting notetaker: nothing decided
  • Suggestion that we try to organize the U-Camp in a more asynchronous manner: more planning by email?
    • Will talk to Josh Baron and others about ideas for a joint pedagogy/U-camp time
    • General consensus that another combined session with developers is a good idea
    • Want to also include material for designers
  • Oracle involvement:
    • We'll organize a meeting to talk with Oracle about their involvement in Fluid
    • Want to focus our regular teleconference to our working agenda
    • Later, George or members of his team can join us to work on Sakai design patterns
    • Will explore the idea of a podcast talking about the value of design patterns, UCD, and so on
  • Roadmap:
    • Tim thinks that it's a valuable effort, but perhaps we should focus it on defining what our next steps are for this group
    • Daphne will finish with the Virginia Tech assessment
    • Will propose it as part of the results from the Fluid work
