Notes
In attendance: Colin, Shaw-Han, Judy S., Daphne, Eli, Will T., Kathy Moore, Marc B.,
Drag & Drop Pattern
¿ Shaw-Han created the Drag & Drop pattern and walked us through it.
¿ Suggestion:
o to add screen shots to the solutions area
o Describe ARIA
o Shaw-Han to add video he has captured from Flickr, etc.
o Daphne will try to capture movie of netflix
¿ Discussion about the accessibility comments. Currently they focus on keyboard only sighted user. Lightbox work will be looking at screen reader users later too.
Should we have a style guide?
¿ Seems to be consensus that we need a style guide
¿ What would the style guide look like? Is it more about visual layout rather than interactions.
¿ It is a lot of work. We want to make sure we don't dilute the current work and thus slow down movement on everything we are doing.
¿ Proposed idea to wait until the DP is more "baked" (more comprehensive view of all the things in Sakai). What does that mean? Discussed this for awhile without resolution. We should pick this conversation back up after in a few weeks. We do have quite a few new people joining the calls and WG. [DO
Action Items:
¿ We need to identify design pattern status at 3 levels:
¿ Kick's ass
¿ Needs work
¿ In progress
¿ Will will come up with semantic language we want to use.
¿ New design patterns:
o Row Stripping - Judy by September
o Jackie & Julie will likely be busy through October but they are signed up for a couple.
o Print - Eli will look at this to understand where/if it makes sense to create a design pattern for this. Include the idea of preview and building in affordances to allow users to know the functionality is available.
Next Week's Agenda
¿ Additional feedback on Drag & Drop Pattern
¿ Check with Jackie & Julie about the design patterns they were working on.
