Agenda
ToDo's and notes from last meeting
- ACTION ITEM - Can everyone post 3 - 5 issues (design, usability, accessibility) you think are good candidates for this kind of exercise (diverse groups of 3 - 5, Short time frame, etc.) on the wiki: http://confluence.sakaiproject.org/confluence/display/UI/Design+workshop+ideas? We can decide on the best candidates next week.
- QUESTION - We'll need design facilitators for groups of 3 - 5 people (unsure how many will be at the uCamp) from various perspectives. Marc and I did a brainstorm of those going to the conference that might be willing candidates. Marc B., Mark Notess, Colin, Jackie, Julie, Tim, Hattie, Daphne, Others? Can you all let me know if you are willing to facilitate and if you know of anyone else that might be interested. We may not need this many people so also let me know if you're willing but would like to be on the "not needed" list for a bi if fewer people show up.
New stuff
- U-Camp planning
- Synth Doc progress
Notes
- u-camp planning team dinner Monday night of the conf
- conference arrivals: 6/8 (Colin, Daphne, Marc) 6/10 (Jackie, Julie, Mike, Tim)
- "Design that Works (process & specs)" panel
- Tim to write up some questions for the panel to send out Monday 6/4
- Marc and one of Jackie or Julie to be Stanford reps. Marc will do
primarily SAMigo, one of J&J to do Stanford local specs
- "Redesigning Sakai tools based on requirements" session
- who is willing to facilitate groups? (Colin, Daphne, Marc, Mike, Tim)
- would each group be working on different problems or would some groups be working on the same problem to see if common or different solutions were produced?
- problem: it's hard to define what a reasonable outcome for the work of these groups
- tackling design/usability problems originating in Jira tickets or from the design review synthesis document still seems to be a good idea
- a complete design solution with no additional work after the exercise is unreasonable
- perhaps the outcomes could be varied and/or multiple, but all would answer the question, "what is the next step?": a design "angle" (part of a solution), more user research, technical discussion/haggling, backing from the Sakai community, collaboration between Sakai project teams, additional resources from the Sakai community, etc.
- Marc to craft beginnings of a framework for this session, Daphne to research potential design/usability problems
In attendance: Colin, Daphne, Marc, Tim
Note taker/facilitator rotation: Colin, Daphne, Jackie, Judy, Julie, Kathy, Marc, Tim
