New Proposals

Default Matrix Landing Page (bkirschner @ UM)

  • If a site has only one matrix defined, users should view this matrix by default when selecting the matrix tool
    and/or
  • If a site has more than one matrix defined, optionally define a default matrix that users will view by default when selecting the matrix tool?

Tabled Proposals

Scaffolded free-form portfolios

  • Do a rigorous feature by feature analysis of the two models of portfolio templates and freeform portfolios
  • Consider a a single, comprehensive solution that fits all of the needs
  • Replace "design-your-own-portfolio vocabulary
  • Step 2 in the process of building a freeform portfolio should redirect to the filepicker helper

Assignments/Matrix/Wizard Integration

Should the "Auto-populate a wizard/matrix page based on assignments" enhancement (SAK-10832) be formally released? Currently sakai.properties needs to enable this feature by setting "osp.experimental.assignments=true".

*Tabled until 2.5 has seen more use and/or Indiana's assignment/matrix linking feature is ready for review*

    I spoke with Jan last night about a concern of mine. We are finding that several schools are stuck now in trying to migrate from previous versions of OSP to 2.4 or 2.5. I know sometime last year, we discussed making a commitment that any new functionality would not preclude or hinder migration of data or data structures from one version of OSP to the next. I really hope this is still the case and would like to hear from others that this commitment is being taken into account when defining new requirements for OSP.

    Regarding "Singularity of Feedback", this proposal takes granularity of authoring control to the next level--which is a good thing, I think.  I'd like to see it implemented in matrix properties as a default setting that can be optionally overridden in specific cells.  A similar approach for defining matrix-wide default forms, evaluators, and reviewers is under development at IU.
