  • Navigating competing pressures
    • Georgia Tech feels it needs a deeper redesign of the user experience to put in front of its campus
    • IU needs to have a stable solution by June 21 (QA should begin May 26)
    • Both schools are concerned about rocking the boat too much as a migration matter
  • Alternative strategies for meeting both sets of concerns
    • Option 1: both schools agree on a particular design and do it together
      • we don't have enough time to work through this and still hit the deadlines
    • Option 2: we can divide our efforts along parallel presentation layers, both working against the same services
      • this may be too disruptive to the service layers, since the two views pressure the services in different ways
    • Option 3: Georgia Tech can do its work in a separate branch, to be merged in after IU's deadlines for a Fall rollout
  • Conclusion
    • Georgia Tech will create an "Iteration 5" branch and do its main work there
    • Georgia Tech will maintain responsibility for the Upload/Download All features (to be completed by May 23), and IU will take on notifications
    • We will plan to merge GT's work back in after iteration 4, and so will need to keep a close eye on things to steer clear of merge conflicts.
    • There is some interest in giving site maintainers a choice between the two interfaces, as a migration strategy.
